Decent Wudu Fountain

Finally, my floor at the building i worked recieved a decent wudu fountain. The consturction was done on Thursday (I wanted to write this blog earlier, but I was just too busy). Before, I (and everyone else in my floor) would have to use one of the five wash basin in the men's room to preform a wudu. I had to put My feet up to the basin when the wudu ritual comes to the part where I have to wash My feet. I could pull this stunt easily, but I felt sorry for my colleagues who are not of young age anymore and who have obesity problems... They seem to have a hard time dragging their feet up the basin which is around waist tall. Adding to the difficulty is that sometimes the floor is wet and slippery, which can be a hazzard if One cannot keep his balance while one foot is up in the basin. The men's room is cleaned by the cleaning guy on a regular basis, but if you're out of luck, you will be having wudu when the men's room is still messy, just before the cleaning guy steps in...

The first time I used the fountain was on Thursday, before performing Ashr. On Friday, I used the basin again before doing Shalat Jumat (Friday Prayers) because the men's room is filled with people who wanted to do wudu as well. And for Ashr, I ended up using the basin again because I forgot that the fountain was there, hehehe... You know what they say, "old habbit die hard" hehehe...

Google Nexus One

(image from google)

Wow... Google just can't stop making great moves... Today the launched their new Google Phone, named Nexus One! This puts Google in the same ring with Apple and Research in Motion (RIM) on the high end smartphone industry.

I wow-ed looking at the looks and the specs. it's slightly thinner and lighter than iPhone 3GS. It has 3.7 inches screen size with 480 x 800 resolution... 1GHz processing power, up to 32GB Micro SD storage, 5MP camera with flash support, and the wifi is already 802.11b/g/n...! wow... It is equipped with the new Andriod 2.1 Operating System.

The unlocked version is price-tagged $529 in the US. I wonder how much it will be in Indonesia. And when will it be available in Indonesian market.

Dashboard Cracks

Oh great. This is what happens if you park your car during work days from 6 AM to 8 PM for several years. The dashboard cracks! It's because of the heat in the cabin during the day. I got three cracks on the passenger side dashboard and two on the driver side...

I already collected some information on the Internet on how to fix them though. I really hope I can fix this thing. I know I can't make it recover 100%, but I hope I'll do a pretty good job to make them un-noticeable...

Damaged P1i

So I was waiting for my wife outside the changing room while she was trying her new shirt. I wanted to check my facebook account through my cellphone. I took it out of pouch, but is slipped out of my hand and it made a cracking sound as it fell to the floor. I saw a guy sitting near me made an "ouch" impression on his face, hehehe...
I pick my cellphone up immediately. I inspected the casing, looking for cracks. Great, i found none. Then I checked the software. It's still working smoothly. This indicates the battery, GSM, and the memory card are still well secured in their places, unaffected by the impact.
So I took another thorough look at the casing. If there were no cracks, there should be a scratch or a dent at the point it hit the floor. If I found none, then I was that lucky to have My P1i fell on one of its flat surface facing the floor. Well, I’m not that lucky I found that the bottom left section of the front panel is slightly out of place. It's like it's been yanked out from the inside

My damaged P1i

It's better than a crack though. I think P1i's relatively flexible plastic casing is the hero here. If it was made from a hard plastic, it will surely crack.

Got a Major Discount

Last Saturday Me & My wife went to Matahari Dept. Store in Ekalokasari Plaza, Bogor. We were to buy a new shirt for my wife. It turned out that Matahari is having this promo: For a purchase of Rp150,000 or above, Customers will get a Rp50,000 discount for the next, above Rp100,000 purchase.

OK, so after we looked around for a while, we bought some on-sale items for Rp200,000+. We paid for them, and saw Rp50,000 written on the receipt. Originally we were going to head home afterwards, but then, we decided buy something for my mom's upcoming birthday instead. We thought that it would be a waste if we don't use the Rp50,000 discount. So we bought this "item" (still a secret. My mom might read this blog ) and my wife also wanted to buy this shoe. It turned out that we got another Rp50,000 discount, hehehe...
I thought it's a waste if we were to stop here. Why not buy something for ME using this discount instead? So we head to the Men's section and bought a new shirt and trousers. So, guess what, we got another Rp50.000. Wow, we could do this all night long So, what do you think we did next? Did we head home afterwards? Well, the answer is yes... We decided to call it a day and went back home.

In total, we got around Rp300,000 worth of discount which includes some on sale items and that Rp50,000 discount that we used twice (We get a third discount, but headed home afterwards). OK, it's not a Major Discount, but that's not bad at all I say...

Oh, I’m not affiliated in any way with Matahari Dept. Store. This post is not intended to promote them

Happy New Year 2010!!!

Bye 2009, hello 2010...
Let's hope this new year will be better than the last!
Let's hope we'll get better achievement this year!

First Try on Automatic Transmission

Finally, i got the chance to drive with automatic transmission. Had a few chances before, but I never had the guts to try it... up until two days ago that is. You may call me weird: someone that is used to drive in manual transmission should have no problem driving in automatic transmission. Yeah, I know that... It's just that, I always think that even though i can navigate the car with ease, i won't be able to accelerate/decelerate right... Which will affect my "agility" on the road. That is why I always hesitated whenever I am faced with a circumstance that requires me to drive an automatic transmission. And somehow it always end up with someone else driving that car instead of me, hehehe...

But two days ago was different. My colleague asked me to go home  with him and a few friends in his car. On the way to the parking lot, he suddenly gave me his car key, he wanted to take a rest on the way home. Not knowing he brought his automatic transmission car, I accepted the key. When we got to the car and saw his car, I said to myself "Oh what the heck, let's give it a shot right now..."

So, I drove it. Flawlessly. From Jakarta to Bogor.

I'm right though, I accelerated awkwardly. Especially when I have to move from a full stop and when I have to pass someone on the toll road. I found it difficult to measure how much pressure I should give to the gas pedal to gain certain speed. I felt automatic transmission is anything but responsive. I think it's because the car's speed is controlled by a certain algorithm based on the pedal position, so the car needs some time to think (or maybe guess) what I actually want.

Right now, I still prefer driving in manual transmission tough. Perhaps all I need is to do more driving with an automatic transmission. So that I can get used to it and understand better how the algorithm works.

here i am again...

Wow... I really don't remember having this blog :D

But here i am now, posting my second post in this blog. The first one is a test post by the way... in which i made on August 2005 and is infested with 3 spam comments, hehehe...

Actually, I wanted to have a blog since i-don't-know-when. I wanted to buy a domain and made a blog using Wordporess, or CodeIgniter, or made it from scratch. But it turned out that I really don't have the time (too lazy) to do it. I'ts on my to-do's list, but sadly, it scored several points from last. Bottom line is, I never even start doing it :p

So here I am, eventually, choosing an easy way to have a blog :D
The urge suddenly kicked in when I red my colleague's blog. I said "hey, why don't I just make one just now... Forget about buying a domain and stuff, you'll end up never having a blog! Just make one on Blogspotor Wordpress for heavens sake!".
So I logged in to Blogspot with my google account. And surprised to know that dirgaprahadi.blogspot.com had already been taken. Last time I checked, I was the only Dirga Prahadi on the planet. So i went to dirgaprahadi.blogspot.com, and realized that it was my account that i created on 2005! Then i re-took it and connect it to my google account.

So... here I am again...
